Corrective Exercise Specialist

Hi, I'm Jennifer

I have been teaching yoga and movement for over 20 years. My goal as a teacher and coach is to provide a transformative physical education that benefits body and mind. Whether you are starting your fitness journey, returning after time away or just looking for something different, I can help you improve your overall health, quality of life and longevity.

For as long as I can remember I have found a sense of connection, organization, focus, and calm by moving my body. Always on the move as a child, I didn’t fully understand the power of movement practices until I found Ashtanga vinyasa yoga in college. The union of breath, movement, and meditation literally and figuratively turned my world upside down.

I knew I’d found a practice that would accompany me throughout my life. I spent the next two decades traveling, studying, and getting certified to teach various forms of yoga including Ashtanga, hatha, and prenatal.

After the birth of my son via c-section in 2014, I began exploring strength training as a means of restoring my core and addressing chronic joint pain.

Similar to my first yoga experience, strength and mobility training had an enormous positive impact on me physically and mentally. Since then, I have been combining my years of yoga experience with my newfound passion for strength and mobility training to help my clients move and feel their best.

About My Process

What is a movement practice?

On the physical level, a movement practice is an intentional exploration of the patterns humans use to move through life - walking, running, squatting, hingeing, pushing, pulling, and hanging. Chances are high that you're already moving in your daily life - maybe you take an evening walk, attend a yoga class, or squat and bend to put away the groceries and empty the dishwasher. However, most of us are not moving enough or in a variety of ways. That's where a movement practice can be so beneficial - it's always evolving and progressing to develop the body's ability to perform these movements well, in more complex combinations,  and in ever-progressing ways. Components of a movement practice include strength training and joint mobility,

On the mental level, it is learning to engage with the world around (and within you) through the body. To continue learning. To become in navigating the world as the body ages. To discover new modes of physicality and expression. To have fun. To stay curious! To develop a deeper awareness of and connection to your body and the world around - this is satisfying and confidence-boosting.

Unwind the body and mind.

My yoga classes incorporate breath awareness, somatic movement, yoga asana, and relaxation to bring a sense of balance to the body and mind. Props and modifications are offered and encouraged, so that each practitioner may find the most appropriate and beneficial expression of the pose. Classes end with an extended, supported relaxation.
